The HRI Board, staff and scientists wish to extend our sincere condolences to the Schlegel Family for the loss of Barbara Ann Schlegel, beloved wife of HRI Board Chair, Dr. Ron Schlegel. Barb passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
Barb was an inspiring individual, who radiated compassion and resilience everywhere she went. She was a proud mother to Rob, James, and Brad Schlegel, and a beloved grandmother to three grandchildren. She was an active member in her community and a supporter of both HRI and the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging. We are grateful for Barb and Ron’s longstanding commitment to research and innovation that benefits people right here in their community and across Canada.
All donations received in honour of Barbara Schlegel will support HRI’s ongoing efforts to build healthier, more resilient communities through mental health and addiction research.
