In February 2020, the Government of Ontario launched Roadmap to Wellness: A Plan to Build Ontario’s Mental Health and Addictions System. The plan provides a clear path forward to improve mental health and addiction services and calls for a standardized approach to measuring performance of the current system – a call echoed by both the Auditor General and Addictions and Mental Health Ontario.
HRI is answering that call.
The Recovery Journey Project is an evaluation system that monitors patients both during treatment and after discharge, for up to one year after finishing treatment. Developed in partnership with our founder, Homewood Health, the system is currently being used to monitor recovery among people receiving inpatient care for addiction and substance use disorder. If scaled up, however, this system could meet the demand for much-needed longitudinal research in Canada.
The Recovery Journey Project provides invaluable insight into the long-term recovery experience. The data we collect helps healthcare providers evaluate treatment services, learn what is working well, and identify areas where improvements are needed. The information gained from our unique system can inform meaningful improvements to healthcare – in Canada and beyond.
